It's been ten days since Olive colicked and five since she returned home. We have settled into a comfortable routine of twice daily visits and walks, and continues to heal well and be a model patient.
Of course, there will be more Olive updates, but I finally feel like things are settled enough for me to think about other things. Today, I am circling back to the Time Before Colic and finishing up my Jurassic Classic coverage with a look at the unplanned and unofficial Buc-ees after party.
For those of you who aren't in the know, Buc-ees is an American chain of super sized gas stations and convenience stores. Originally founded in Texas, the first Colorado store opened recently in Johnstown, some sixty miles south of the Jurassic Classic's Cheyenne, Wyoming location. The chain is well known for the large size, clean bathrooms and copious food offerings, which include all kinds of snacks, but especially beef jerky and candy, brisket, baked goods and commodities, tacos and fresh sandwiches.
There are also a whole bunch of souvenir items, most featuring the chain's Beaver mascot.
Neither Julia or I had ever been to a Buc-ees, so it seemed like an obvious place to stop for dinner on our way home from the show. Clearly, this was not an original idea. As we made our selections, I heard a familiar voice yelling something about meat.
Yup, classic Tiffany.
She was there with her travel companions, Lara Heidkamp and Hanna Wangsgaard.
The whole thing was ridiculous, but so much fun.
Thank you, Anna and Anna, for hosting such a fun show, and Heather and Julia, for being the perfect travel buddies. I am already looking forward to doing this agains - Buc-ees, too! - next year.
