October 2008

To commemorate fifteen years of blogging, I did something I rarely do: I went back and reread every single one of the forty five posts I wrote during October 2008.
No surprise, most of them were about my model horse tack.
I didn't take a lot of photos of my work back then, so I leaned heavily on customer pictures.
Fortunately for me, my customers were more than willing to share.
Although I tried to make things interesting by including extra information...
the primary purpose of these posts was online portfolio building.
And bragging.
Lol. I wasn't even subtle about it.
In between the show and tell posts, I also wrote three tutorials.
It was important to me that my blog be more than just a showcase of my work. I wanted to give back to the hobby community.
This one was the best.
Not only was it was the best tip, it also featured this blog's first kid photo. Awww. He was so little and cute!
Other topics I covered that month included a local live show...
and a Halloween event at the Colorado Horse Park.
This is the blog's second kid picture. Again, so little and cute.
Finally, I shared some pieces of my model horse...
and real horse pasts.
The John Henry photos were too good not to share.
Also, I knew that if I was going to keep the blog going longterm, it would have to be more than just tack photos.
Ironically, fifteen years later, it's the tack posts I care about the least. I am far more interested in revisiting that time in my life when my kids were little, my blog was new and so many things - both good and bad - had yet to happen.
