In my fifty three years on the planet, I've seen a lot of model horses.
So many.
And while there are a lot of model horses that WOW me...there are very few that surprise me.
About a month ago, Amanda previewed pictures of this model in progress. The dappled palomino with high whites is a classic Drum Horse color scheme. Lots of WOW, very little surprise.
The finished reveal flipped that equation. This model still has lots of WOW, but holy crap, what a surprise!
Her mane...
and tail are pink.I did not see that coming!
Here's how Amanda describes her: The time has come to introduce a very special horse indeed: Lady Featherington, her unique coat and even more flambouyant mane is sure to cause quite the stir wherever she goes...
This lovely resin was sculpted by Kylee Parks of Studio Thornrose, and was a limited edition of just forty total, with thirty available unpainted. She is a wonderfully sized traditional, measuring 10.25 inches tall, by 13.25 inches long. She was prepped and painted to a beautiful dappled golden palomino with a soft pink mane tail (and a bit in her feathers...done with animal safe dye of course ;) ). Her luscious golden dappled coat, paired with some wonderfully roaned sabino markings pop marvelously against her rosy pink mane. Her mane was achieved with multiple thin layers to give it lots of dimension to accent the lovely windswept movement. She sports bright blue eyes. She also has a surprise under those feathers, with tiny peaks of her gold painted hooves! She has been loaded with all of my usual details, including skin pinking in appropriate areas.
Lady Featherington is currently at auction on Model Horse Place.

Somewhere I came across the word moradorado to describe the plum-colored mane and tail of certain grey Spanish horses. Morado means purple. Makes me wonder.
