Now I know

I am fifty two years old and cannot remember a time when I did not want a horse of my own. I've often wondered when it would happen, what that horse would look like and how that first day would go.

Now I know.

This morning my family and my barn family gathered at the barn to wait with me.

The trailer arrived slightly behind schedule. Someone hadn't wanted to load.

Fortunately, unloading was not a problem.

Olive backed out, looked around, snorted and then dove into the nearest bale of hay.

I greeted her.

Then Michael handed me the lead rope, and she was mine.

The rest of the day was all about getting Olive acquainted to her new home.

She explored the indoor arena...

and got her first look at the golf course.

"What in the world?!"

There was a little bit of anxious behavior...

and her new neighbor is not a fan.

Still, I think it went really well.

My first horse. I can't believe it finally happened. I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.
