I really thought I'd have that horn jump painted by now, but I forgot that weekends are all about distractions. Today has been filled with ponies...
and puppies... cookies...
and laundry...
and approximately two million pinholes!
Oh well. NAN isn't until June. I have plenty of time!

What kind of cookies are those? They look delicious! We need the recipe!
ReplyDeleteJames loves red velvet everything, so we decided to try our hand at red velvet cookies. We used this recipe with a couple minor modifications for altitude and taste. The cookies turned out great. They taste as good as they look so this recipe is a keeper!
DeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteI have a question: I am considering going to the High Country Live show September 14th, but I will only show OF Breyer's in Halter. It would be my first show...and I need some tips. Do they have a novice section? Do they only allow Resins? Would I have any chance at placing?........

You should definitely go!
DeleteI am hoping to be there, but unfortunately, I can't commit until a couple non-model things happen. Hopefully, I will know later this week.
The classlist can be found here. It's a big, multi-division show, no novice but full divisions for both OF Breyer and OF Stone. These divisions can be a bit of a crapshoot. You might do fine, Or not. It all depends on the day and the judge and, of course, whatever else is on the table.
If I do make it, I will be showing performance and Resin and Custom halter. Find me and say hi!
:)
I will be sure to say hi!
DeleteThanks for the help...I was a little lost. :)
What time does it start? Will the halter finish (OF breyer) half way in the day (like 11:00 or noon)? I don't know if my dad and mom would want to drive an hour.. show all day, then drive an hour back home. I also have four little sisters (aged 13-6) who probably wouldn't go, so we would have to factor that in too.

The show hall probably opens at 8am with classes starting at 9 and will probably last until 5 or so but there are several who live about an hour away and might be able to give you a ride home. I live in Elizabeth, if that helps. Everyone is friendly and will be happy to help you out! My name is Jane Schneider and I'll have extra tags and things you can borrow. Feel free to email me at glynhaven@live.com if you have any more questions! I've been a "newbie adviser" at other shows.
DeleteAs for your chances at winning ribbons, it's not unheard of for models to come right out of the box and win something. Mostly, models should be in good condition; scuffed and scratched horses don't do well.
DeleteThank you so much! I live in Elizabeth also...(have you ever heard of Bannockburn?..I live in that neighborhood). I will definitely need advising!
DeleteI don't know for sure if I am going....my dad is preaching at church that Sunday..but my mom may be willing to drive me.

sunday trail rides are the best - and always a totally legit distraction :)
