NaMoPaiMo days five and six

Non-NaMo life took precedence yesterday, so I'm playing catch-up today. Here's the screenshot view of NaMoPaiMo days five and six.

Thursday's NaMoPaiMo Champion of the Day is Kira Roper.
She writes: Finished! This was my first time painting a model horse. I found shading very difficult to get smooth with acrylics, but after many many many thin coats, I’m very very happy with how he came out.
He is a portrait of my late boy Spirit (yes, named like the movie).
Friday's NaMoPaiMo Champion of the Day is Alex Kennedy.
Alex writes: I did it! This year was a massive challenge. We moved in January, and I didn't have a lot of space. My job has caused me massive Autistic burnout, and I've not felt creative at all. My writing and art weren't bringing me joy. I re-came-out as nonbinary at work and with family, which caused major stress. I've spent at least a solid hour every week crying since the start of January, and more like an hour every day since NAMO started.

And yet, Sunsong got painted! I sculpted for the first time in forever (I added their wings), and that was super fun!

I actually took time to cover every square inch of the model with base color paint before I moved on to details. I'm usually not so thorough. It feels good to be that detailed.

I had a ton of fun with his cutie mark, even if the petals are a little wonky.

Still debating adding glitter, but that would be an entire other trip to the craft store, so I'm calling them done now!

Despite an EDS pain flare up, and being extremely tired from busy work days (I'm a hairstylist, so on my feet a lot) I managed to carve out time to work on this little guy!

This is also my second sober NaMoPaiMo, and the mental clarity and passion cannot be topped. This is my favorite model horse activity; I wait all year for February.

Thank you, Kira, for taking the leap and trying something new, and thank you, Alex, for making time for NaMoPaiMo, even when it would be so much easier not to. Both of you embody the spirit of this event. I am so glad you painted with us this year!
