NaMoPaiMo is for everyone

Every year on the NaMoPaiMo Facebook page, someone - or more accurately, several someones - writes words to this effect:  I really want to participate in NaMoPaiMo, but I'm not artistic. I've never painted a model horse before. I think it would be a disaster, and I don't want to ruin a perfectly good model.

If this is you, please take this message to heart: Art is for everyone.
NaMoPaiMo is for everyone.
Yes, there are absolutely some A-list artists who paint beautiful, live show quality models with us every February.
Stephanie Blaylock's 2018 NaMoPaiMo model
This one still takes my breath away.
Melanie Miller's 2024 NaMoPaiMo model
We love these artists.
Amanda Brock's 2024 NaMoPaiMo model
NaMoPaiMo is for them.
Vincent Lange's 2017 NaMoPaiMo model
But it isn't just for them.
Anne Field's 2020 NaMoPaiMo model
NaMoPaiMo is also for all flavors of amateur artists.
Jennifer Buxton's 2019 NaMoPaiMo model
It's for beginners, too.
Sarah Bild's 2024 NaMoPaiMo model
We welcome husbands,
Matt Yaeger's 2024 NaMoPaiMo model
kids...
Olive Hintz' 2018 NaMoPaiMo model
and non-horsey best friends.
Carol Beutel's 2020 NaMoPaiMo model
NaMoPaiMo is for everyone.
Art is for everyone.
I truly hope all the nervous, non-artist artists will sign up to paint during this year's NaMoPaiMo. Please know, you are an important part of our community, and the month would not be the same without you!

  1. I saw that leopard appy Spanish stallion and thought, "Wow! That looks amazingly like Vermeer!" Then I saw it was painted by Stephanie Blaylock in 2018. Was that the inspo for/precursor to Vermeer's finishwork design?! Too cool!
