Friday favorites

Since 2018 Melanie Miller's meticulously documented "experiments" have been of my favorite parts of NaMoPaiMo.

But not this year.
This year, Mel was covered up with casting her gorgeous Seafoam resin...
and finishing up various other projects including this amazing mother-and-daughter unicorn pair.
Generally speaking, I am not a fan of unicorns, but I make exceptions for pieces as well done and vistually appealing as these.
Besides, those horns are completely removeable!
Mel writes: After over a year of working on these two, Robin and Mini Egg have finally hatched!
Inspired by my favorite Easter treat, these pastel candy coated "egg"aloosas are currently up for auction on the Mel Miller Equine Art Facebook page. They are hand painted in acrylic with bright pastel spots with painstakingly detailed edging, and soft light pastel manes and tails. They have beautifully detailed blue-green eyes and pastel shimmery rose gold horns and hooves. Robin (the mare) has had some facial customization including a new nose and jaw hair.
Their horns are magnetic so you can display them however you like! They're finished in a thick, durable high gloss.
The mare is beautiful. The soft colors match her gentle expression perfectly.
That said, it's the baby who's truly captured my heart.
Look at that face.
She is so darn cute!
Although it pains me to say it, this pair is so good they were worth the NaMoPaiMo sacrifice. But one year only, Mel. One year only.
Be sure to check out the featured post on Mel's page for complete auction information. They're out of my price range, but someone needs to go get them!

  1. Seriously delicious (and I'm generally not a unicorn or fantasy fan!). I am lost in the coloring of their feathered feet! Amazing!
