Traveling is one of my favorite things, but not when I have a very old dog.
I'd known Darcy's bad day was coming for a while, so unless the trip was absolutely essential, I just couldn't make myself leave her.![]() |

Because of this, I turned down a lot of travel opportunities, including one to judge the performance division at next month's Stone Horses Country Fair in Shipshewana, Indiana.
As it turns out, that was probably for the best. This show no longer has a performance division. Here's how Stone Horses head honcho, Erin Corbett explained the change: Due to clear entrant feedback, we have swapped out Performance in favor of a CM and AR Mini division. I know some of you will be disappointed, and I understand. As an avid performance shower myself, it was not an easy decision. Last year, our performance division had only five entrants. That is not a sustainable number.
Here at Stone, we care very much about performance and its overall growth. To that end, I am offering a $250 cash sponsorship and OOAK prize/raffle model to any show holder or event organizer who holds a performance clinic or workshop in 2025. I want to see performance grow and will personally invest in helping make that happen.
We will bring performance back to the Fair when it will be well attended. If you hosting a clinic, please email us at service@stonehorses.com to be considered for sponsorship.
As someone who is also invested in the future of performance showing, I applaud the Stone team for this sponsorship opportunity. I really hope we can raise a new generation of performance showers!

My condolences on the loss of Darcy, and the sponsorship idea sounds fabulous!
ReplyDeleteOn a note of hope, the Stone Equilocity Show last year had a tack division and it was filled to bursting. p.s. thanks but no thanks, the TSII needs no more projects! although the job box idea is brilliant. We use either ziplockies or saucer-like objects for this.
ReplyDeleteI need to get more time, then space to play at crafts....then maybe I can get back into showing.
