On the whole, I am doing better, but sleep is hard. I am waking up multiple times each night, my brain filled with thoughts of Olive. As I lie in bed, trying to go back to sleep, I find myself mentally reviewing all the things that made Olive so uniquely perfect.
The giant ears. The cute tiny nose.
The crease that ran the entire length of her back.
So deep sometimes shavings or snow would get caught in it.
Her near obscene love of butt rubs.
Her lip smacking joy in eating watermelon.
All her ridiculous dragon snorts.
Sigh.
She was just so perfect.
This morning, while this was happening, I picked up my phone and started scrolling through my pictures and videos.
So many wonderful little moments.
I'm so glad I took these.
And then...
Huh, I’d forgotten about a few things.
Oh, Olive! Maybe you weren't perfect after all.
Just kidding. You were - you still are! - the best. Forever and always.

So many beautiful memories.
ReplyDeleteShe was perfect indeed
ReplyDeleteI loved her more than any other horse I haven't met. She was the best. Goofy, sweet, beautiful.
