Well, I'm still in California.
Mom sailed through hip replacement surgery, but recovery has been complicated, first by a C. diff infection, then by a concurrent urinary tract infection. She's still in the hospital, in an isolation room, and we have to dress like this to visit her. And all this isn't even the worst of it.
So I'm here until things are better - or at least not as aggressively bad - whenever that may be.

FYI infections in the elderly can often make dementia symptoms worse. The dementia sometimes slowly improves to previous baseline after infection is gone. My mom’s only UTI symptom was raging paranoia. It’s a hard road for sure.
ReplyDeleteI’m so sorry. We’re all thinking of you. 🤗 (there just isn’t a good “hug” emoji on my phone.)
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. It’s also frustrating that both those infections are hospital acquired and should not happen but c diff is so rampant in medical facilities. UTI will cause and increase dementia. Thinking of you during this trying time.
ReplyDeleteYou and your family have been in my thoughts. May you find a friend, expected or not, who can help ease your problems.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry that all of this is happening! 🫂
