Kaffi update

For Mother's Day, my son, Ryan, paid an animal communicator to talk to my horse, Olive, and Karen's horse, Kaffi. During his session, Kaffi "said" that he was tired of being treated like a baby horse. He wanted to trail ride with Olive, show off his tölt and basically have more fun.

Unfortunately for all of us, trail riding with Olive hasn't been a thing this summer. As for the rest of that list...  Well, I'm not saying I one hundred percent believe in the validity of that reading, but also, noted.
The next time I worked with Kaffi, I tacked him up and put him on the lunge line as usual. However, after just a couple circles, I called him into me, unclipped the lead and climbed aboard.
"Okay, little man," I said. "Let's have some fun."
Everything went well, and it wasn't long before we left the confines of the arena and ventured off property. Our first ride was around the pond.
That went well, so the next time we went a little further.
Then further and further.
Since then, we've gone through water...
and over...
and under bridges.
We've also tölted.
And because I'm me, I've also broken out the bareback pad on more than one occasion.
So fun!
It hasn't all been perfect, of course, but mostly, it's been really good. I'm glad I decided to listen to Kaffi. It was definitely time to start asking him for a little bit more.
Karen is back to riding Kaffi now, and I've turned my attentions to big brother, Bowie.
I miss riding Kaffi, but at the same time, I'm having a lot of fun with Bowie.
These two horses have helped me so much this summer. I am so thankful for both of them.
Olive is twenty days away from being rideable. She won't be ready to hit the trail on day one, but maybe by late September, Kaffi will finally get to realize his dream of trail riding with Olive. I can not wait!

  1. Hooray for Kaffi! To see you riding horses other than Olive is like old times. To see everybody together = wonderful, can not wait.
