Art in the park

After ten long, stressful days in Southern California, I rode back to the Bay Area with my sister and spent one night with her before returning home to Colorado.

While I was there, she took me hiking at her favorite place.
Part of the Albany Waterfront Trail, the Albany Bulb is a former construction debris landfill turned public park. Over time it has evolved into a natural area that supports a wide variety of plants and wildlife, including a variety of bird species.
The park's fabulous views of San Francisco and its wilderness-in-the-city vibe make it a popular destination for dog-walkers, hikers, bird watchers and cyclists.
Oh, and artists, too.
And because Albany is right next to Berkeley, a lot of that art is political in nature.
Some of it resonated, some didn't.
A few things definitely felt a little too on point for this particular moment in my life.
Seriously?
Regardless, I enjoyed every piece.
My understanding is that none of this art is officially sanctioned.
It just sort of shows up, and city lets it stay.
I kind of love that.
The rest of the post is just a collection of photos from our hike through the Bulb. I'm really glad I made the time to visit one of Colleen's favorite places. It's on my list now, too.
