Rachel Fail might be a former hobbyist, but her real horses look like something you'd see on a model horse show table.
First, there's Ember, the grulla.
I've never had any real feelings about grulla, but after a day of looking through those stripey ears, I got a wee bit obsessed.
My SD card is filled with detail shots: feet,
legs,both sides of course!
primitive markings,
stripe.
So pretty! Now I want a grulla.
Speaking of obsessed, Pebbles is my favorite kind of appaloosa.
She's all reds and golds with so many little roany bits.
Once again, I was compelled to take a million pictures. All angles.
One of Pebbles' most distinctive features is her thick ropy mane.
One of Pebbles' most distinctive features is her thick ropy mane.
I spent a lot of time admiring it when I rode her on Sunday, which is how I noticed the speckly skin beneath the hair.
This is not surprising - I'm sure every inch of her skin is speckled - but I've never noticed it under a mane. So cute! Finally, a shout out to Breeze.
Although she may look like a plain bay from a distance, this mare is sporting a serious set of dapples.
Just look at them!
No joke, dapples like this make me want to bust out my paints.
That's a lot of fancy finishwork in one field, Rachel. Are you really, truly sure you're done with model horses?
