I was cleaning the store at the end of business today, when I found a sketch book on the part of the counter usually reserved for employee purchases.
"Hey, Cheyenne," I asked. "Is this your sketchbook?"
Cheyenne said it was not, so we flipped it open, looking for contact information.
Inside we found a series of horse drawings...
and horse notes.
There were no human names or numbers, but clearly, the sketchbook belongs to one of the young horse girls who visited the store today.
We spent a few moments admiring the art and remarking on how we had both created similar works when we were younger.
It's such a universal horse girl thing.
I hope the sketchbook finds its way back to its owner. I also hope that if, somehow, she sees this post, she will not be embarrassed. She is one of us. She is all of us.

Truer words were never spoken. (Yes, I too have a book!)
ReplyDeleteMe and my best friend had almost identical books almost 30 years ago. She is indeed all of us!
