Ten years ago today, I saddled up my lease horse, Rev, and went for a ride in the outdoor arena.
We walked, we trotted, we cantered. We did circles and worked on transitions. Then we popped over a couple little trot fences.
Today, on my way to the mounting block, I led Olive over to the spot where Rev and I had landed. I thought about what happened - and what could have happened. I thanked the universe for giving me the last ten years.
Then I got on my horse and went for a ride.Of course, the ride included a trot fence.
There was an Olive moment, but I stayed on her back, and she stayed on her feet. It was a pleasant and unremarkable ride. As it usually is. As it always should be.
