Mary Beth's diorama entry

Karin Hullatti wasn't the only entrant in the BreyerFest Diorama Contest who was inspired by a song poem. Here's Mary Beth Shew's diorama, "Over the River and Through the Wood."
Mary Beth writes: This scene is a representation of the many horse drawn sleighs that carried people to see loved ones for the holidays in the early to mid-1800s in New England. This diorama was inspired by "Over the River and Through the Wood", a Thanksgiving poem by Lydia Maria Child, originally published in 1844 in Flowers for Children, Volume 2. The poem celebrates the author's childhood memories of visiting her grandfather's house.  Lydia Maria Child was a novelist, journalist, teacher, and poet. The poem was eventually set to a tune by an unknown composer. The song version is sometimes presented with lines about Christmas, rather than Thanksgiving.
The harness represents Mary Beth's first foray into Stablemate scale tack. It's pretty fantastic, and I hope it's not her last.
Congratulations, Mary Beth, on a job well done. Good luck in the Virtual Diorama Contest. I hope you have an amazing BreyerFest!

    1. It's definitely a labor of love. I enjoy seeing all the entries in one place, and it kind of makes up for not being allowed to enter myself <3
