My friend, Tara Reich, is 705 Union Woman's Custom Made Specialty Costumer, basically she makes costumes and props for movies and television. No surprise, she loved the BreyerFest Costume Contest.

Tara didn't let that stop her.
As if.In the same way that horse girls are always going to horse...
Costumers are always going to costume.
The foam she used for the original mask was too soft, so she started over with Eva foam.
Much better!
I always thought patterning was perhaps the hardest, but most interesting part of tack making.
These photos made me want to clear off my desk and build... something.
As the mask neared completion...
It was time to start working on other parts of the costume.
Closer...
Closer...
Closer...
Done!If - like me - you are unfamiliar with the reference, this is Malanya, the god of horses, from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. He lives in the far northeastern corner of Hyrule, and strengthens and even revives players' horses.
Tara is hoping he will bring her luck during the raffle.
If he does, expect to see racing across the arena in costume. I so hope that happens. It will be glorious!

Amazing! Cheering for her to win a raffle horse!

ReplyDeleteI saw this costume on Tara during the MIB zoom. I had no idea at that time what it was. African was my internal conclusion. Now I know, thanks to you.
