BreyerWest youth and novice show

There was a snafu with the original performance judge for the BreyerWest Youth and Novice Show, so I was a last minute substitution to the staff.
I showed up at the show hall bright and early Sunday morning, not even realizing that the performance classes didn't start until later. Oops!
Even though I was tired, it was nice to be there. The kids and their somewhat befuddled parents were enthusiastic, and the mood in the room was extremely upbeat.
I watched Heather and Amanda pin their classes.
There's something so pure about the Youth and Novice customs division!
This lovely foal was the Reserve Champion Custom.
The Overall Champ was this little leopard. What a nice horse!
After the Customs were finished, it was time for Performance. Most of the classes were small, but tough.
Entrants are required to use Breyer tack or tack they made themselves.
In some instances, this works out well.
Most of the time, however, it's a real handicap.
Creating a good performance entry with Breyer tack is much like painting a model using the paints and brushes from the Stablemate painting booth. It's possible, but unnecessarily difficult.
The biggest class of the division was the Costume/Regalia class.
The winner was this Christmas parade horse.
His costume had all kinds of fun little details...
and the documentation was spot on.
Here's a look at the Youth Novice Performance division callback table.
And the winner is... Kaeli and the Christmas costume horse. Reserve Champion went to the barrel racing Wyatt.
Congratulations to all the winners. This was a really fun show.
