This year, Stone Horses painted three portrait models of Winslow as part of their NaMoPaiMo sponsorship.
They're really good portraits.
I especially appreciate the hairy fetlocks, big belly spot...
and perpetually split forelock.
There was only one thing missing... Winslow's BLM brand.
There's a funny story that goes with this. Apparently, when all this was in the planning stage, Erin sent Angelo to check Winslow over for brands and other identifying marks. Angelo secretly went to the barn, entered Winslow's stall and gave him the once over. Despite that, they totally missed Winslow's "invisible ink" brand.
After the Winslow drawing, Erin and I talked about the missing brand. She invited me to send him back to Indiana, and I took her up on that. After all, I feel like the brand is an important part of a mustang's identity.
New and improved Winslow returned to Colorado this week.
He's glossy now, and like real Winslow, his brand is just barely there.
It's tiny, precise and nearly invisible. Perfect.

Kara Kunnen and Mallory Camp also received their Winslows this week. Meet NaMoPaiMo's Luck of the Draw and Heza Dinkie Doc. No word on whether or not these two wear a BLM brand.

Waiting for my own limited edition Stone, I find this chance to view the variations between individuals a relief. Good work on holding out for a brand. It did come out perfect!
