There are a lot of stereotypes about mares, most of them negative.
I get it, but also, I love mares.I love my mare. She's not the easiest horse in the world, but that's one of the things I like about her. She knows who she is. She has good boundaries and expects a lot from her people. I have learned so much from her. I have learned so much with her.
Today's prompt for the Advent Model Horse Photo Challenge is Mare. For this, I chose one of my very favorite model mares, Nejmet es Subh, who is a Breyer Proud Arabian customized by Judy Renee Pope.
I took this photo for the Greytest Love class at Erin Corbett's 2020 Winter PonyBytes Fun Photo Show. I've always liked it, but also, I've always thought I could do better.

I love my red mare too. I had a poa mare, aTB mare and another QH mare previously and leased a lovely QH mare all before my current mare which I loved too. A good mare will be your best horse and friend.
ReplyDeleteChestnut is my favorite horse color Usually, the darker the better--especially if they have a flaxen mane & tail and just a little chrome to go with them!!
ReplyDeleteNo real horses to relate to --but I also love a good dappled black grey(or a black bay for that matter!) Your Nejmet is *beautiful *!!
I have a rose Grey PAM that Judy and Liz Bouras did years ago!! Don't know if you follow TB racing--but over the weekend, saw a grey TB filly similar in color to Nejmet with a white mane and tail. She didn't win but her name was COURSE, I believe.
Stupid autocorrect--should say COURBE!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely love a good mare, I always seem to end up being given the “grumpy” ones to work with but it’s not hard to win them over with a little time and understanding.
