Start to finish with Bucky Barnes

Marvel fans know Bucky Barnes as a sidekick turned dark hero, but secretly, he's also a model horse artist. Who knew? Thank you, Heather White, for sharing this glimpse into Bucky's private life.

Start to Finish

by Heather White with Bucky Barnes

Bucky's new studio is still in progress - he says "behind schedule" - so he's still in the old one - he says "the old really tiny one". This year, he'll be painting a Mini Whinnies sliding stop stock horse to... something. He has a plan - he always does - but as usual is refusing to tell me. He's been looking through the sparkly and colorshift paints, though, so I have an idea what he's up to.

Here's Bucky working on a base coat of iridescent white. He finds white paint a little daunting.
He's a little further along now, and is contemplating his next steps.
Bucky is taking a break with churros and chocolate, before adding more layers to his little decorator's stripes.
After a final couple coats of Folk Art Dragonfly Glaze in red-violet-blue, Bucky is done with his little decorator.
He really enjoyed Breyer's Winterfest, and the tutorial he liked best was Tegan Leighton Davis's starlite minty zebra foal (he watched that one four times), so he had been thinking that trying something stripey would be fun for NaMo, especially since all his previous models have been realistic colors.
Amazing work, Bucky!
And thank you, Heather, for giving us this behind the scenes glimpse into the life of the Winter Soldier.

He's good looking!! I thought he was "real" at first!! I wouldn't mind having his work studio either! Very nice work!!

  3. Looks like a Hot Toys figure. They make the best ones out there in 1:6 scale -- the level of detail is incredible. Go to Sideshow Collectibles and see if they have that version of Bucky available. If not, eBay! ;-)
