I usually work four days a week, but for some reason, this week I was on the schedule six days in a row. I showed that to my boss and she asked, "Why did I do that?"
I laughed and said, "My question exactly."
We both agreed it was too many days, so she told me to pick the one I didn't want to work. After a quick check of the week's forecast, I decided Wednesday was the day.
In fact, the weather was perfect his morning when we saddled up and headed out.
Of course, that didn't stop us from taking pictures with it!We dropped down into the riverbed...
and stopped to do a little trail maintenance.
How does one manage to abandon an entire outfit minus one shoe on a lightly traveled path near a beaver pond? The whole river bottom is still green.
Shockingly so.We rode the bottom as long as we could.
When it got too mucky, we scrambled up a hill and rode along the top.
We survived a tack malfunction...and crossed paths with a tiny snek.
We found a pretty spot...
and stopped for pictures.
Olive was weirdly uncooperative.
Best I could do.
We rode on.
Eventually, we ended up on a section of trail I haven't ridden in a long time. Some of it was a little overgrown, but thankfully, Diana had marked the way!
We crossed some water.
Almost like being in Iceland again! At the very end of the ride we had a close encounter with a bike path sweeper.
Both horses did great.
Both horses are great.
The perfect end to a perfect fall ride.
This was a really fun day. I'm so glad I didn't spend it at work.

Looks like it turned out to be a great non-work day!
