Here's something I used to hear a lot when I was making model horse tack: Oh, that looks exactly like a real saddle!
My first thought was always: It is a real saddle. It's just small.
My second thought - which I didn't usually express out loud - was: It doesn't look exactly like a real saddle. Close, but not really.
It's rare for me to mistake model tack for real tack. My brain is trained to see the differences, and I am hard to fool.

Obviously, a lot of it is the photography and editing.
If you remove the background and put the pony on a turntable, I am going to do a double take. This one really got me!
Sidenote: Tack of the Day is really coming for me with some of these holiday items.
Sage would look so cute in this.
In fact, it really doesn't matter what scale that is. It's definitely an item I would like to own!

I've occasionally mistaken the real thing for a model. Once, it gave me ideas for a neat silver saddle. Yes that Santa Fleece is drool-worthy for a horse! // Evelyn has fooled me the most with models, although a few others (Shannon, Donna for example) have joined the club.
