Four

On this day four years ago, Olive became my horse.

It wasn't supposed to be that way, at least not officially.
The original plan was for me to take her on a care lease, and if that went well, we'd transfer ownership later.
After Olive had been delivered, Shelly told me, "The paperwork for the lease was too complicated. Here's your bill of sale."
I hadn't ridden her yet.
I wasn't prepared.
"Oh, we're really doing this," I thought as I signed the paper.
Well, we really did it.
And it was really great.
My only regret is that it didn't last a little longer.
Happy fourth Oliversary, sweet girl. I miss you.

  1. I lost my best friend Wednesday to colic. Im still in shock. And just shattered. I cant believe my sweet boy is gone. Its a type of loss of only horse people can understand which is why I still tear up reading about Olive. Its a relationship like no other. I feel so lost.

  2. Death opens new doors. The threat of death (I am a cancer survivor) opens new doors too, though maybe not quite so big. // I much enjoyed the impact Olive has had on this blog, and look forward to many returns and reviews.
