The candy plan, part six

As we were driving up the mountain to Karen's house, Heather, Syd and I talked about the upcoming CandyLand Live show.

Heather said she couldn't wait to see my performance entries.

I laughed and said, "I hope there are entries to see. Right now, it's not looking good."

"You always say that," Heather replied. "Then you show up at the hall and it's WHAM! It's amazing."

I laughed again. "That could still happen," I agreed. "I really do not know."
We are now less than three weeks from show day, and I still do not know. Sad to say, the odds would be a lot better if I could talk myself into using another model. As much as I love little Olive, she is a difficult performance horse. That big mane was only the beginning of the issues. Her equally abundant forelock is causing me a world of problems.
A larger browband would certainly help, but this is a mess. I hate it so much.
I do not have the time, energy or inclination to make a lot of tack for this show, so I've been trying to find items that work. Am I ridiculous enough to show a mustang in a browband-free, breastcollar-free Arabian costume? Maybe? I just don't know.
And honestly, that's pretty much where I am in all of this. It could still be Wham Amazing! but equally it could be essentially non-existent. I really, truly just don't know.

  1. How about a one ear headstall or a bosal set? You could do western pleasure or reining then. Just a thought. I'm sure you'll do great!!!

    1. PS: You could also do a bridle-less reining entry with a neck rope!

  2. Oh, for sure Western is easier. She fits a one eared headstall just fine. That takes care of... three classes.

  3. Why not cut the browband where it meets her forelock to make it look like it goes under her forelock? Just hold the browband flap in place with some wax?

    1. I don't have many bridles left, and I'd rather not chop one up. If this doesn't work out, it's okay. Life will go on.
