Chestnut

It's November, which - if you work in retail - means it's time to decorate for Christmas.

I hate it.
I am less hostile towards the arrival of Christmas inventory, because new items are fun, and Olive has needs. We received horse stockings yesterday, and I immediately set one aside for my sweet girl.
My coworker looked at what I'd selected and asked, "Why chestnut?"

"Olive is chestnut," I said.

"What? I thought she was bay!"

"No," I laughed. "She's always been chestnut."

Then another coworker chimed in that she, too, thought Olive was bay.

I pulled out my phone to share pictures of Olive, which they had both seen before...
Chestnut.
Chestnut.
Chestnut!
Granted, she does have a very dark tail.
Still, she's unmistakably chestnut.
This is one of those areas where real horse girls and hobby horse girls differ. Real horse girls may know how to ride, but hobby girls always get the colors - and breeds! - right.
Anyway, I'm off to work again for another long day in Christmas land. I'm off tomorrow, and will try to write a real post or two then!
