Mississippi mish mosh

Here are a few more pictures from the Mississippi part of my recent trip.

Carol lives in Ocean Springs, which - as its name implies - is located right on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

It's a cute, touristy town, with a well earned reputation as an arts community.

Heh.

Although we failed in our attempts to find the local alligators, we did track down one of the neighborhood turtles.

Of course, we also shared meals at some of Ocean Springs' best known restaurants, including this one.

The food was fine.

The decor was... a lot.

Predictably, I spent some time look for horses.

The most memorable eatery of the trip was not in Ocean Springs - or even New Orleans - but the tiny town of Wiggins, Mississippi.

The Chill Sloth Ice Cream Parlor.

with a real, live sloth.

There he is!

Sammy the Sloth is a part of the Wild Acres crew, and proceeds from the ice cream shop benefit the sanctuary. The ice cream was really good, too!

I have maybe one or two more posts about the trip, and then we'll get back to horses! horses! horses! and maybe some more walking.
