I spent most of last month writing posts about model horses.

First it was NaMoPaiMo.

Then it was BreyerWest.

There have been mentions of family along the way...

but mostly, it's been all model horses, all the time.

Which, truth be told, is not an accurate reflection of the month at all.

In reality, this has been a long, hard month, filled with illness and death.

I was sick twice, both before and after BreyerWest. The first was normal bad. The second was really a show stopper. 

More significantly, the month marked the neither slow nor steady decline of my mother-in-law. Family gathered - and is still gathered - and we said goodbye to her on Friday.

Eventually, I will have more to say about that. In the meantime, expect more model and real horse posts. Those are easy and help make life feel normal, and right now, normal is what we all need.
