Every year, my barn friends and I get together for a Christmas photo shoot. Unfortunately, this year we've had some scheduling issues. Instead of one big picture party, we decided to split things up into two smaller sessions, the first of which was today.
Olive wore her new Christmas halter and some cute clip on hair ribbons in her mane. Despite my best efforts, she did not wear a Christmas garland. She made it quite clear that she wanted no part of that.
She was similarly uncooperative when it came to posing.
We tried and tried to get her ears up, but she was not feeling it. Eventually I handed her off to Therese, so I could take photos of Roy.
Of course, once we were no longer trying to put the decorations on her body, she was totally fine with them. What a brat!
Unlike Olive, Roy didn't mind the decorations.
This is his first Christmas photo shoot with us, so we didn't know what to expect, but he was a total trooper. And look how nicely he posed!
So cute.
Then it was Delilah's turn.
Therese had been holding Olive, but now she couldn't.
I tried holding her while I took pictures, but that was complicated.
Then I remembered that I had taught her to ground tie. We'd never done it off property, but I decided to give it a try. Olive was perfect. Okay, pony. Less of a brat.
This allowed me to finish up Delilah's session unimpeded.
She was as good a model as Roy.
This is my favorite picture of the entire day. Then it was back to Olive.
This time, she was a lot more cooperative.Good girl, Olive. You're not a brat after all.
Today was really fun. I still want a picture of Olive with a garland around her neck, but this will do for now. And who knows? Maybe next week she'll be more cooperative.

Thank you! Delilah with her upper lip curled.. priceless!! Olive looks great in her Christmas halter and lead rope btw! Merry Christmas to horses and humans all!🐎😊❄️
