Mirror mirror

The indoor arena has a mirror at one end.
This allows the riders to check their position while still in the saddle.
It also makes for some interesting  behavior during turnout.
Vigilante Justice wants to fight the horse in the mirror.
Not Rune.
He's a lover not a fighter.
And then there's this guy...
Yeah, he thinks he's the biggest stud of all!

  1. What a brilliant idea! So well shot too - trying to avoid getting the camera in the background must be fun!

  2. Love the shots, especially the ones of Rune! The mirror is a really nice touch and gives it that extra bit of realism!

I remember the first time my Fjord saw himself in a mirror. He neighed at it as if it was a long lost friend he saw in it :)

    1. She looks exactly like a pony at my barn named Caroline (except Snickers is an appaloosa). They even have the same look on their faces!

  4. Vigilante Justice is back! I've been looking over your older posts when his right hind was broken... he has now been restored to his full glory! Are you planning on showing him anytime soon?

I also *love* the little hoof prints in the arena; it makes the pictures look so realistic. This little attention to detail is amazing.

P.S. Has Rune changed? He's a much darker bay than I remembered...

    1. Rune is Rune. I wouldn't change a thing about him. The light was funny today so he looks darker than usual.

    2. Such a cute model! Are you sure he can't come live with me? ;)

  5. Too funny. It's amazing how we hobbyists are so entertained by our miniature horse world. I can see George with a thought bubble "Does this saddle make my butt look fat?"

  8. Great addition! And Rune is being a typical Arab...checking out his reflection in the mirror. There used to be an Arabian ranch here in Scottsdale called Tom Chauncey Arabians. He, at one time, owned *Bask. Anyway, there was a stallion they used in the Sunday showings (basically a "come look at our beautiful horses!" type thing) named Simeon Shor and every time he went past the sales building, he would watch himself in the reflection of the windows. Sometimes he'd just stop and stare at himself.

    1. A pony at my barn named Chester has the same problem--when we walk past a mirror, he stares at himself and refuses to walk forward! I love him, though :)
