Well, it was fun while it lasted.
Sadly, it was.
So, just like that, the Trillium era has come to an end.
It's not the end of the world. I know that I'll be able to find a suitable replacement sooner or later. Right now, though, I'm just a little sad.

ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm really sad for myself, I'm equally happy for Aline. It's a dream come true for her to have her horses living on her own land. She was just beaming today as she showed me around. The mares have a great big pasture with safe fencing. I know Trillium will be very happy.
ReplyDeleteThis all came up so suddenly that I really haven't had much time to decide what to do next. Long term, I'd like to find another lease, but I might put that off until the spring. There's a hunter/jumper barn with an indoor ring right down the street. I might see about taking lessons there for the next little bit.
Whatever happens, you can be sure I'll blog about it!

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry. I know how hard it can be to leave a lease horse. I'll have to give up Scooter here in a month or two and won't have her back for at least six, maybe nine months. Not looking forward to that at all.

ReplyDeleteThis *is* the downside of leasing. At the end of the day, you don't own the horse so your vote doesn't count.
ReplyDeleteStill, I can't complain too much. We had a really good 14 months. I learned a lot from both Trillium and Aline, and I feel like I'm riding better than I have in years.
It's also worth noting that this was a no drama parting of the ways. Aline and I are still friends, and even though I'm not willing to make the drive out to Timbuktu to see Trilli on a regular basis, there's no reason why I couldn't go see her occasionally if I wanted.
I can't believe you were together for 14 months! It seems like yesterday that you posted your first photo of her. How wild!
ReplyDeleteI know it's never fun saying goodbye. But, you will have more opportunities!! Although it might be hard to find another opportunity as cute as her ;). But, when one door closes another one opens! I can't wait to see what your next adventure will be!

ReplyDeleteI have thought about this aspect of leasing, and the way I get extremely emotionally attached to animals in a very short time. This would be very, very hard on me. Heck, I rode someone's horse just for a couple of weeks before the BO shut us down (a no-contract type of deal), and I cried for a week over that.
Best of luck finding another good riding situation - we will all be waiting to hear what you work out!

Oh Jennifer! I'm so sorry, I can't imagine what it's like to lose(more nicely put..sell) a horse. I had no clue that you where geting rid of her. :(
