I have to admit--it's been a long time since I entered a photo show.
Despite that, the Model Equine Photo Showers Associationcontinues to be my favorite group in the model horse hobby. The women who run this club know their stuff, and MEPSA gets better with each passing year. Here's a quick look at some of MEPSA's current happenings.
First up is the second annual MEPSA Tack Making Contest. Winners are decided by popular vote and polling is open through September 13th. I'm going to be honest and tell you that I have a vested interest in the results of this contest. Although the tack makers' names are not listed on the entries, regular readers of this blog shouldn't have any trouble picking out my work. I would like to win, of course, but please vote for whichever entries you like best. If that happens to be mine, thank you very much! If not, that's ok, too. We can still be friends. :)

If you're more interested in education than competition, MEPSA hosts an online Performance Clinic. New classes are uploaded regularly and viewers are encouraged to post placings and reasons. It's very interesting to read the comments, and I would recommend this page as a valuable learning tool for anyone who is interested in showing performance.

Lastly, be sure to check out the updated Gallery of Champions on the MEPSA webpage. The 2010-2011 Championship Show winners are down at the bottom, and they are amazing. In particular, the Custom and Resin Performance division is just chock full of WOW. I especially love the Cowboy Mounted Shooting pictures!

There's an unfortunate tendency among many hobbyists to regard photo showing as live showing's lesser counterpart. Nothing could be further from the truth. Everything about MEPSA is first rate, and I simply cannot recommend this club highly enough.

ReplyDeleteHow funny there's all that CMS - it looks just like I thought it would! :-) Very well done. I also adore the Lipizzaner performing the Capriole. I never would have imagined someone could pull that off!
