More Saturday silliness

Of all the comments posted on the boot tutorial, RiderWriter's was my favorite.  She wrote: I am chuckling... here I exerted some brainpower wondering just how you guys were able to pull boots on over the doll's clothing and make them look so nice, and you've been busy GLUING THEM ON! LOL! Never thought of that solution.

I am chuckling, too, because it never occurred to me not to glue them on.

And perhaps it should have.  After all, tall boots are not particularly comfortable.  After a long day in the show ring, that poor rider doll would probably like to take her boots off.
She wonders, "Why won't these boots come off?  Did my feet and legs really swell up that much while I was riding?"
"Perhaps the hot cowboy from across the barn aisle can help me pull them off..."
And then it hits her:  Those boots aren't ever coming off because someone GLUED THEM ON!!!

(Ha ha ha!  There I go cracking myself up again!)

  3. This cracks me up because I've totally been there. (Minus the hot cowboy.) Although it wasn't very funny at the time because the boots I was wearing were borrowed, and the girl who loaned them to me wanted them back. I had 3 people pulling on those boots and they still wouldn't budge. lol

  4. Oh yeah. I remember as a little girl showing trying to pull those things off with my dad and two others after every show. Whoever thought of putting zippers in those things was BRILLIANT!

  5. That last picture in particular is just great. But wow, your doll is so poseable! Equitation classes, here she comes...

  6. Anne Field gets all the credit for the dolls' poseability. The cowboy is one of her "Bendy dolls". I got him for calf roping and steer wrestling, but it turns out that he's also good at removing boots. BONUS!

  7. Hahaha! Those photos are hilarious! Glad I provided some amusement. :-) Seriously, I spent enough time wrestling with Barbie Rider's boots, and "Prince Eric's" (Little Mermaid) that I thought the model horse doll version would be a nightmare. I guess the quest for authenticity only goes so far and then practicality takes over. Makes sense now! I assume that also means the dolls are sewn into their clothes. Hmmm, something to consider for the teenage daughter.... ;-)

  8. You missed the part where the rider puts their other foot on the helper's butt... :D

  9. Actually, Teresa, I did try to do that! Unfortunately even bendy dolls have their limits. I just couldn't get it to work!

  11. LOL!!! this is awesome!!!!! i always wondered if they could come off as well, though i have been guessing for awhile now that they are glued on...

i have to agree, those boots are so hard to get off!!! much prefer the short riding boots with chaps! lol! though i need to get me some chaps yet! i'm sure it'll pass in the jumping ring!!

  12. I Hate tall boots with a passion. After a day of showing, my feet/ankles hurt so much I want to kill someone. I'm not fortunate enough to have ones with zippers, but I do have a show dad and various barn people to pull them off, though there have been times I wonder if I'll be stuck in them forever...
And that's the great thing about the jumper ring. you can show in shorts and flip flops and no one cares.
