So small

Ryan and I went to the hobby store to buy Seth a Father's Day present. While we were there, we found the world's smallest model horses.

My dolls are model horse collectors so, of course, I had to buy them a pack of ponies.

For scale purposes, here they are with some micro-minis and a traditional scale pony.

I don't collect minis, but I am happy to indulge my dolls.

Breyerfest preview #1

Breyerfest is less than a month away, and I am still working on sales tack.

Most of it is just the normal stuff.

In addition to the saddles I've already previewed, there are halters...

So many halters!

There are bridles...

English,

Western,

and Baroque.

And then there are some odds and ends. 

This will be, far and away, the most tack I've ever had for sale at one time. If you're interested in adding a little bit of Braymere to your tack box, please stop by Clarion Holiday Inn North, room 220 at 7 PM on Thursday, July 13. All sales are first come, first serve, and I'm hoping for a fast sell out!

Trillium

I met Trillium in August of 2011.

We were introduced through a Craig's List ad, and it was love at first sight, at least for me.

I took one look at her soft eye...

and amazing dapples and decided that I was going to lease her, no matter how she rode.

Fortunately, she rode just fine!

Less than a month into my lease, Trillium moved from Parker to Big Iron Ranch in Watkins. It was a longer drive for me, but I decided the pony was worth it.

 We spent the next fourteen months together, dabbling in dressage,

jumping, 

pretend trail,

real trail...

and pony rides.

She was such a good pony.

In the fall of the fall of 2012, Trillium's owner realized her lifelong dream of owning horse property... in Bennett. I was happy for her, but sad for me as that was just too long a drive. I took one last lesson on Trilli, gave her a big kiss and wished her a long and happy life.

I visited Trillium again in 2014, and it seemed as if my wish for her had come true. She had a new lease rider who loved her and was living in a big field with all her friends and lots of food.

Sadly, the her life, though happy, was not meant to be long. Two weeks ago, I ran into Trillium's owner at the Colorado Horse Park and learned that sad news that she had died from an aggressive form of cancer.

Godspeed, Trillium. You are missed. 

Redline Yellowcard Live Workmanship

On Sunday, I attended the Redline Yellowcard Live Workmanship show in Boulder, Colorado.

This was a small show in a small room, but showholder, Heather Malone, provided her entrants with a big event type experience.

This started with the prizes. Instead of the usual paper ribbons, each class was pinned with chocolate coins.

Sectional champions were awarded bags of candy in addition to certificates...

and overall champions won more candy, a certificate and a new Breyer.

Additionally, Heather awarded a few random prizes throughout the day...

and a show holder's prize to her favorite horse in the show hall. 

This was won by Dayle Steinke's Sergeant Booth.

We were also treated to a small but really nice raffle.

Every single prize was sculpted by Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig.

Fortunately, the competition was as impressive as the prizes. 

I judged the Custom Division, which was split into two sections: Traditional and Classic Scale...

and Minis.

There were a lot of big classes...

and a lot of worthy winners.

In the end, Teresa's lovely little Marwari by Mel Miller was crowned the Overall Custom Champ.

Dayle's Mustang by Jaime (Baker) Castleman picked up Reserve honors.

I also brought a small showstring of my own.

Despite the tough competition, 

my horses held their own....

and brought home lots of candy. 

Yay, candy!

The big winner was Hoka Hey, who won the Overall Resin Championship. Woo hoo!
