Friday favorites

I go to the barn every single morning, and as often as not, my camera comes with me.

This means I end up with a lot of photos.
Of course, many of them feature Sage.
But really, I have pictures of everyone and everything.

Except there is one thing - one of my very favorite things - that has been completely undocumented... until now!
At least two or three times a week, everyone's favorite barn guy, Lee, gives Sage and I a ride from her stall to the mare field.
We always trot.
Carol videoed us doing this on Wednesday, and yesterday, I let one of Gray's friends hold the lead rope while I took photos.
Sage and her entourage.
This was - and always is - so much fun. I'm so glad to finally have photographic evidence of this favorite activity!

This year during NaMoPaiMo, Sally Ann Spletter painted a slightly customized Morgenglanz to a lovely, soft grulla.

But that wasn't the only model she worked on in February.
She also spent a large part of the month customizing a Bouncer.
That model was finished in March.
Then the next phase of the project began.
Oh! I know what this is!
Jean Slaughter Doty's Can I Get There by Candlelight? is one of my all time favorite pony books. Beautifully illustrated by Ted Lewin, it tells the story of a girl and her pony who ride back in time through a narrow iron gate.
This gate.
Here's the finished project.
Thank you, Sally Ann, for creating a perfect homage to one of the most perfect pony books. I love every single thing about this.

Friday favorites

Last August, Angelo and I took Piper and Tang to Dog Days at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs.

The weather was not ideal - first really hot, then really wet - but it didn't matter.
We had the best time.
Of course, we wanted to do it again.
So two weeks ago, we did!
This time, the weather was perfect.
Except for the bears...
and the skunks (sorry, Tang!)...
all the zoo animals were awake...
and lively.
Also, hungry!
Big happy sigh.
Best of all, this time we were joined by Angelo's wife, Tori...
and her dachshund, Archie.
It was so much fun having them with us.
This was just the best day.
It's official. Going to the Zoo with dogs and friends is one of my all-time favorite pastimes.
I can't wait to do it again!
