We're ten days into 2021, and already it's been a year.
Not all of it has been bad.But the bad parts have been absolutely horrifying.
Normally, this would be Stock Show week, but of course, that's been cancelled due to the never-ending, always-worsening pandemic.
This year's BreyerFest has also fallen victim to the pandemic, at least the in-person part of it. The announcement was made earlier this week, and while it's absolutely the right decision, it's hard not to get discouraged. It seems like life will never get back to normal.
The pandemic has taken so much from all of us, but fortunately for me, it has not taken my riding. So today - even though it was only twenty eight degrees - Mary Jo and I saddled up and went for a ride.At first we stuck to the paved parts of the trail.
Eventually, however, we were unable to resist the lure of fresh snow. There's nothing better than putting first tracks on fresh snow!
Or at least the first non-wildlife tracks.
It was really cold...
and really beautiful.
I'm glad we got to do that.
Someday all of this will be a memory. We'll be able to go places and gather together again. I look forward to that so much, but today was a good day. Today we rode.
