A browband for the tack-unfriendly!

Here's the perfect solution for all those models with "unicorn horn" forelocks!
I spotted this browband at the Dressage in the Rockies show at the Colorado Horse Park in Parker, Colorado.  Although I don't think it's particularly flattering on this horse, the shape is a dream come true for those of us who struggle with fitting plastic maned ponies!
P.S.  This will probably be a bad week for my blog.  The kids have a ton of back to school activities and my puppy is laid up with an injured foot.  I'll try to keep things updated, but no promises!

  1. That's a really cool idea. Sorry about your puppy, hope she gets better soon.

  2. That browband makes the horse's head look SO square and TINY. But very cool model solution!

  3. Intersting brow band! Besides, the horse doesn't look very happy....
Hopefully your puppy will recover quickly! ;-)

  4. AND! another example of hardware not matching - gold bit with silver buckles! Us model horse people are MUCH too anal, LOL.

  6. Oh no, hope your baby is better soon...

As far as the browband, I really don't get this trend of "droopy" browbands in dressage. This one is exceptionally low (I guess the curve is on purpose). I like browbands straight across, darn it, and also think that's the most flattering look for most horses. But I can see why you model folks would think this a great fix! :-)

  7. I have to agree with RiderWriter, these curved browbands look strange. But honestly, that HUGE noseband looks even more bizarre! That big puffy thing is far from flattering.

  8. The "puffy" part comes from the padding and those are always a bit more oversized than the browbands. Always.

It's just how they are on a dressage bridle :)

  9. yuck, what a hideous shape!!! i much prefer the V shape ones that are becoming more and more common over here...even though they are sharper in shape, they suit the horses more i think, this is just..err!!
