There is absolutely nothing wrong with this nice Stubben saddle. Its brown color and plain flap are both unusual features in a dressage type saddle, but you can tell at a glance that it's a well made piece of tack. However, it's almost hard to see anything but that shocking pink pad and those equally bright stirrups!
Of course if you're going to put that much pink around the saddle, you must be sure to balance it out with a pink tail bow and sparkly body paint.
And don't forget those patterned pink polo wraps!
This explosion of pink was part of a comical skit performed yesterday at the Equine-aganza by sisters Alyssa and Whitney Hayes. They rode Trisha's brother and sister Arabs to the song "I Can Do Anything You Can Do Better," and their act was all about sibling rivalry. Naturally, this did not end well. The grand finale was an "Around the World" contest. Hmmmm... That's not something you usually see during a dressage pas de deux!
Having shown you the unconventional (i.e. pink) half of this duo, I feel compelled to post this picture of the "good twin." Amie Phoenix may be twenty six years old, but you wouldn't know it by looking at him. What a lovely, classic picture he makes in his good show tack!
There's a link to the Tacky Tack blog on my Recommended Reading list on the right side of your screen. Be sure to check it out--I guarantee you will be amazed by some of the things people have lurking in their tack rooms!

And it was!
The horses and ponies of H&H were just as impressive as the property. Every single one of them was the picture of health and happiness.
And they were all so cute--just look at this little

And of course, there were lots of horses. Some were big.
Others were small.
The demonstrations ranged from upper level dressage,

There was jumping,

After the performances, the audience was invited into the ring to meet the horses.
There were a lot of happy little girls in that ring...
Lots more pictures to follow. I did manage to get good close up shots of all the harness and all four Arab costumes. Hope you enjoyed this photo recap of Trisha's big birthday bash. I can't wait to see what she does next year!
Remember my consolation prize Fly By Wire Resin? This was how he looked when he arrived earlier this month.
And here's how he looks now, after having spent most of the day on my worktable.
The most obvious change is that he is now freestanding rather than mounted to a base. I've also done some resculpting to his neck and withers. I'm hoping to transform him into a convincing Akhal Teke. Probably I should leave this kind of work to people like Tiffany and Liesl, but I'm hoping that with patience I'll be able to do a passable job on my own.
I've long wanted to have an Akhal Teke in my showstring. Unfortunately no one has offered to trade their Khan or Kara Kush for tack, so this guy is just going to have to do for the time being!
