BreyerFest Thursday

BreyerFest Thursday dawned bright and early with the Resin Renaissance Show hosted by the Mares in Black, Jackie Rossi and Heather Malone, and located in the Clarion's Paddock Meeting Room.

This new addition to the BreyerFest line up included Breed and Workmanship divisions for three sizes of artist resins, plus an Amateur Owner Workmanship division,
a Medallion division...
I was part of the show staff, I think mostly to act as a back-up judge in case someone was unable to attend. Since that didn't happen, I managed the raffle.
This was a surprisingly fun assignment, especially after Tara Reich...
and her little screaming buddy showed up.
I spent a really pleasant day reconnecting with old friends...
and meeting new ones.
I also took a lot of pictures.
So...
many...
pictures!
Lesli Kathman specifically called me over to take a picture of the shading in this model's mane. It was glorious.
When I left the show hall, people were already lining up for the Artisan's Gallery. That was a bit too crowded for me, so I went another direction.
I saw Hobo the pug...
and visited Grace Newhouse's room.
If you like 1:9 scale props - and who doesn't? - this room was an absolute treasure trove of awesomeness.
I wanted one of everything, but especially that kissing booth.
Alas, finances are tight this year. The only thing that came home with me was that pink and yellow fan.
After some time had passed, I circled back to the Artisan's Gallery. It was still very crowded, so I only stayed long enough to say hi to a few friends,
quickly peruse their sales offerings...
and get my first in person look at the Best Customs Contest entries.
They were all amazing.
After that, I headed to the less crowded Swap Meet room next door.
There, I helped Tara with her table in much the same way she'd helped me with the raffle.
Not that she needed my help.
After all, she had the Screaming Man.
Eventually, I decided to call it an early night. I headed back to the room and spent a couple peaceful hours alone with my Kindle. Self care.
The first real day of BreyerFest was filled with beautiful models and amazing, talented people. It was such a good day, and the best was yet to come.
