Excellence in Tack Making joined BreyerFest Best Customs Contest line-up as a one-time Theme class in 2023 and then as a regular division the following year. As a resident of Colorado, I am not allowed to participate. Still, I love seeing other tack makers rise to the challenge. This is Dani Boiko's 2026 entry.
She writes: This is a Scythian Ceremonial Armor set dating back to 4th-3rd century B.C.E. While called armor, it may not have been used for battle but rather for royal burials for the Nisean Horse. Talk about a challenge that pushed my tack making skills at the time of building this!
The horned mask and the neck portion easily took the longest. Many failed attempts went into both that is for sure.
Some of you may recognize this set. I made it a few years ago as part of a collaboration with Monika West. It's one of the best things I've built, so it was only fitting to give it the chance of maybe becoming a finalist this year! Congratulations, Dani. This is really a cool set and definitely deserved the chance to shine in Kentucky. Good luck at BreyerFest!
