September horses: Lucy

 Lucy has been one of my regular rides for more than a year and a half.

She's a sweet, friendly mare on the ground, but can be a little bit of a Jekyll and Hyde - or as I often joke, Lucy/Lucifer - under saddle.

This summer - and especially this month - has been all Lucy.

I have enjoyed every single one of our rides together.

In addition to being a good girl, Lucy is also an itchy girl. She loves to be groomed, and she loves to roll.

While most horses finish a roll with a shake, Lucy always comes up bucking.

If you're not careful, she'll run right over you.

Yee haw!

It's okay, Lucy. I still love you.

Fall is my favorite time of year, and I'm looking forward to many more good rides with this good girl. I feel lucky to have her in my life.
