Just saying

This is Mabel.
Mabel is a AA Shetland Pony resin painted by Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig.  I've been showing her as a Shetland...
but lately I've been reconsidering that breed assignment.
After all, I already have two other good Shetland pony resins.
It would be nice to split them up.
If only I could think of another breed for Mabel!
Any suggestions?

  1. Hmmm...do you think Miniature Horse would fit her? XD Golly, I just don't know....

  2. Just make sure proportions are correct for a mini. I'm sure you know, but they're just horses shrunk down. Conformationally, they are a little different from ponies. Something in the lower front legs looks a little different to me. But the head is pretty good.

  3. Lindsay--I know that's the miniature horse party line, but to my mind they look like ponies. High quality, refined ponies but ponies nonetheless. Some of them were certainly more "horselike" than others, but honestly, there wasn't a single one that could have been mistaken for a full sized horse.

  4. LOL, I know what you mean, Jennifer. Some do look like really refined ponies. It's definitely a mix between what you see in the mini world. Looking at her again, I do think she could pass for a mini. She's a very cute resin!

  6. I didn't think Standard Shetland ponies could come in overo patterns anyway (maybe American Shetlands can? But not British), so it makes sense to me!

  8. If it were me I might show her as a cross with either welsh or dartmoor and a shetland

  9. How about a Kerry Bog Pony? All I can think of apart from that, would be some sort of cross.
