Mindy's school horse set

I forgot to take final pictures of Mindy's school horse set before I shipped it off, so I was very pleased to receive these photos over the weekend.
Isn't that horse adorable? He's a customized Stormwatch resin that Mindy has been working on for months and months. He's not all the way finished yet, but he already looks great, and yay, the tack fits him. He is the picture of the well loved school horse all decked out to take his adoring young rider into the (schooling) showring for the very first time!
If you would like to see more pictures of this guy as well as Mindy's other creations, be sure to check out her website: http://www.sprucemtnstudio.com/ and tell her Jennifer sent you!

  6. It looks JUST LIKE SILVER! He was my first lesson horse. Sweet old appy with more character than he knew what to do with. Didn't have much mane like many of the appies we have around here in North Idaho (old stock). Your fabulously done model looks great in his new set!

  7. Thanks everyone. This was really a fun set to make and I think it shows.

Shannon, I grew up with those old timey Appaloosas too. Mindy captured the look perfectly, but that's not my model (I WISH!!!). He belongs to Mindy and will likely be for sale eventually. I'd love to own him, but I simply can't imagine any scenario where he'd stay in my price range! :)

  9. I love this! I think everyone has ridden that horse. Mine was named Natasha, an app very similar in looks to that one in fact, and she was known as the great beauty of the school horses, a little more sensitive than most so only the better students were allowed to ride her. I remember being so proud the first day it was my turn!

Very nice to see that full cheek snaffle, they seem rarer today than they were when I was first riding.

    1. Sad to say, it's been a few years, and I don't remember exactly how I did the reins. In the past, I've painted the leather, but I *think* this time I used mostly leather dye. I couldn't swear to that, though!
