It's been twelve days since I updated this blog.
And let me tell you, those have been twelve long,
hard, chaotic days. They've also been twelve days of unrelenting, winter weather.
We haven't had a single day of bare, dry ground this month.
It just stays cold.
It just keeps snowing.
The animals are happy, but I'm over it.I'm so over it.
Fortunately, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. After eight long months of dealing with insurance and repairs, our basement is finally re-carpeted. There's still more work to do, but at least now we can start moving things back down there.
I'm not sure there's any relief on the weather front...
but now that Olive is barefoot...
at least this is possible again. It's been a long eight months. It's been a long winter. It's been a long twelve days. I am over it, but I'm still here, and I promise, I will try not to let another twelve days pass before I check in again.

You got a lot of work done! Congratulations! It looks really good.
ReplyDeleteI hope to make it bake to visit you soon!
ReplyDeletePlease do! We might even have comfortable guest accommodations by then.
DeleteThat's quite a shot of Piper. "The primordial, pyramidal, powerful, perfectest pup!" I never imagined your basement like that. Congratulations, you can breathe now.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! I wondered what you had been doing all this time. It's looking good, Jennifer! AC (aka C)
ReplyDeleteJenn--how many inches of snow have you gotten in your area? (I notice that the snow is up to Olive's hocks in one photo--so that's pretty deep!)
ReplyDeleteBe glad that you don't live in my state where all the weather people spent most of the week telling everyone to be prepared for a winter storm (our 1st for the year!) It was supposed to have occurred first thing yesterday morning making traveling really hazardous! After many of the schools and businesses closed out of caution(we were supposed to get anywhere from 5 to 10 inches of snow!), it finally *rained* and we ended up getting less than 2 inches!!(I think the rural areas may have gotten 3 or 4 inches--seeing as it was supposed to be a heavy wet snow!) 😳
Kind of makes it hard to take them seriously anymore as I didn't hear *any* of them apologize for their "under" estimation!!
Your basement looks *wonderful *!(Uhh--they *did* put things in place to keep it from flooding again--right?? Would hate to see that lovely carpet ruined!)
I don't know what our snow totals for the year are, but it's way over average. We literally have not had a single day of bare, dry ground. The picture of Olive in the deep snow was taken on my birthday at the tail end of the big storm. We had over eight inches from that one, which was the most from a January storm since 1992. It's been a lot.
DeleteWelcome back Jennifer! I figured that you must have been working--and I was right!(Seth's photo made me chuckle!)
ReplyDeleteYour basement looks nice! (I like beige carpet! It can make your whole color scheme look neutral!) Best wishes for finishing!
Glad you're doing OK. Slogging through, but doing OK. <3
