Eerie Equine performance

There are three longtime performance showers living in the Denver Metro area. I am one of them. The other two are Teresa Buzzell...

and Fabian Rodgriguez.

All three of us were judging at Heather Malone's Eerie Equine Live held last Saturday at the Lowry Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.

Because of this, I wasn't expecting many entries in the Themed Performance Division. Sure enough. The first class - The Spokes Have Spoken - was called, and no one came to the table.

Up and coming tack maker and performance shower, Jes Michaels was the sole shower in the next three classes. This is her entry for At the Ballet.

She had two horses in Jumpin' Jack Flash, and one in Rainbow Dash, which I somehow forgot to photograph. Oops.

Up to this point, it was business as usual small show performance. Then, things got weird.

Julia Turner realized - belatedly - that she had a perfect entry for The Spokes Have Spoken just sitting there on her table. She mentioned that to me, and I immediately asked Heather if we could recall the class. We could and we did!

Get Along Little Doggie and Yard Sale came and went without any entries. She's Not Heavy, She's My Sister was fixing to do the same, at least until Regan O'Keefe decided to get creative.

At Your Pleasure was another no show, but Regan's horse was back on the table for Hotline Bling.

"I'm glad I decided to wear a necklace," Regan told me, as she collected her NAN card and ribbon.

The last class of the division was Pumpkins and Ponies. This one started with two entries,

one of which was really, really good.

She got all the details down pat. I am impressed!

I was about to start judging when I heard Regan say that if I gave her a moment, she could make something happen. I did and she did!

Vicky LupaIndago saw this and was inspired. Suddenly there were four entries on the table.

Then five... 

and six.

It was the best kind of Halloween magic - a full performance class!

This show had two separate performance championships, one for the top horse and another for the top shower. The Overall Champion Performance Horse was Courtney's shark and Overall Champion Shower was Jes Michaels.

Regan and Framboesa picked up both Reserve Champion titles.

Congratulations, everyone. That was a lot more fun that it could have been, and yes, Regan. I'm really glad you wore that necklace!
