Bargain babies

Even when they're free, horses are expensive.

Model horses don't have the monthly upkeep, but they can also be expensive, particularly those showing - and winning - in the artist divisions.
Still, there are bargains to be had.
After the Custom Foals class was pinned at last weekend's Eerie Equine Live, Anna Miller picked up her second place ribbon and said, "Not bad for a twelve dollar horse!" Of course, I had to ask her about that, and she told me she'd won this pretty baby in a silent auction at recent show.
At the same time, Randi Wood was picking up her third place foal. She told me that hers was a twenty dollar impulse buy at BreyerFest.
Granted, neither one of these models were in contention for an overall title.
Still, it was really nice to see budget ponies doing well. Congratulations, Anna and Randi!

  1. I purchased a horse years ago at one of the early Stone Country Fairs for $25 and she earned a Reserve at NAN one year!
