Riding at BreyerFest

Despite his advanced age, my borrowed horse, Oakley, was feeling his oats. He had no interest in standing and waiting with the rest of the group, so we walked laps instead.

After what seemed like forever, it was our turn to go in the ring. The group's president, Maggie Herlensky, gave us a quick pep talk.
Then we rode into the Covered Arena.
The stands weren't full, but I saw a lot of familiar faces. Our friends waved and cheered as Fabian and I rode by. It felt amazing.
Riding in this arena at this event was a real bucket list item for me. I took a few photos to memorialize the occasion.

Then I put my phone back in its pocket and soaked in the moment.

Awwwwwwww.
Almost before I knew it, the whole thing was over and we were riding back to the barn.
I waved at all the little horse girls who stopped and watched us go by.
I hope someday they will also get the chance to ride at BreyerFest.
Here's a little video with clips from our ride.
Thank you so much to the American Sidesaddle Association, Oakley and Fabian for making this dream a reality. Truly, this was a day to remember.
