Performance is my favorite division, so I was really happy that the raffle table at the Resin Renaissance show was located near the performance ring. This allowed me to take lots of performance photos.
This division was capably judged by the fabulous Tiffany Purdy, who looks almost as good in Prost! red as she does in her signature pink.
The Other Performance section opened with a pair of harness classes. Most were standard fare, and then there was Lisa Smalley's one horse open kayak.
Sometimes it pays to be creative. This one was a winner!Arabian Costume was next.
There was one of the biggest classes of the day, and every entry was a stunner. The Other costume class had a little bit of everything, including this little Marwari...
and an impressive Amazon warrior.
Rawr!I missed most of the Scene class due to raffle duties, but I did manage to snag a few photos of this really nifty entry.
I was especially impressed with the handmade pop machine. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to get a close-up photo so here's a raccoon instead.I also wasn't able to get a picture of this neat chuckwagon setup with its horse.
Even without him, it was a nice entry with lots of good attention to detail.
I missed the final two classes entirely, but I did manage to get a shot of the sectional champion and reserve. The chestnut is owned by Kate Dwyer and the bay is owned, sculpted, cast and painted by Lisa Smalley.
The English section was next.I was really busy selling tickets and talking, so I missed most of it. Oops.
I did better with the Western section.
Here's Lisa Smalley's bay again. He is a solid three division performance horse, and I really enjoyed watching her show him. This neat trail entry was created by Karin Hullatti. It depicts her racing-the-storm ride out of the Grand Canyon earlier this year. It's a great story. If you see her, be sure to ask about it.
As always, my camera was as attracted to dolls and tack as it was to the horses themselves. I love the details on the back of this doll's jacket.
The front wasn't half bad, either!
The Games class had a lot of great entries...
including this Outhouse Race set-up. Sorry, Erin Corbett. It seems like we all bought Porta Potties during the pandemic, and now they will be a staple in the Games classes forevermore.
Obviously, this is not a comprehensive recap, but I can tell you that the Overall Champion was Brenda Summers' Loping Leggs resin.
Overall Reserve Champion was Lisa Smalley.Congratulations, Brenda and Lisa. That was a really nice performance division!
