I didn't have to work today, so I slept in, called my mom and spent the rest of the morning in my studio, reacquainting myself with oil paints.
After lunch, Seth and I went to the barn.
He'd expressed an interest in learning how some basic horse care so today's lesson was haltering and leading. Seth did great, and both Olive and Thunder were on their best behavior. After the barn, it was right back to the studio, where I spent the rest of the day working on my NaMoPaiMo pony.
This was a nearly perfect - and very productive - day. What a luxury it is to spend an entire day doing things you enjoy with the people and animals you love! I am so fortunate.
Not everyone has it as easy. Today's NaMoPaiMo Champion of the Day, Casey Webb, posted this picture on the NaMoPaiMo Facebook page. She writes: Behold, my "studio." I'm a live-in caregiver for a sick loved one. I'm always moving to where I'm needed, and I don't have my own dedicated space to work. I carry my supplies in a box lid and work on a tray. My loved one is very sensitive to light, so I work in the dark with whatever small portable light source I have available. I appreciate how this hobby is so welcoming of any level painter, and how it can be as flexible or as complicated as you want it to be!
I admire Casey's flexibility and her dedication. As much as I think I need my own private studio space and long, uninterrupted blocks of time in which to work, this is a good reminder that where there's a will, there's a way.
Congratulations, Casey and good job to everyone who worked on their models today. I can't wait to see what we all do tomorrow!

You deserve a day like this, we all do.
